Cholesterol 101
“It’s easy to get confused when you hear people talk about cholesterol,” says Dr. Victor Plavner of Maryland Primary Care Physicians in Arnold. “There’s discussion about good cholesterol vs. bad cholesterol, the role of diet vs. heredity-- even what numbers you should be concerned with when you have your cholesterol checked,” he adds.

Q: Why did you choose pediatrics & what do you enjoy most about this specialty?
Dr. West: I’ve always enjoyed working with children; at 11 years old I became a mother’s helper; as a teen I was a nanny. I never envisioned doing anything other than working with children. My favorite part of being a pediatrician is watching my patients grow up.
